In happier days - The Clan Line cargo liner Clan Macquarrie, 7,131grt, which was built by the Todd-Bath Shipbuilding Corp., Portland as the Ocean Wayfarer in 1942, and was bought by Clan Line in 1951. On Jan 31 1953, the ship went aground near the Butt of Lewis while on passage from Dundee to Glasgow and although refloated, she was a total loss;the ship was broken up at Troon in 1953 |
