An illuminating and first hand account of the Clan MacQuarrie drama was provided by Douglas Buchan at a special fund-raising function in Ness Community Hall.
Douglas was a 22 year old cadet on the MV Clan MacQuarrie when she ran aground off Borve on that stormy night on January 31st 1953. He gave a fascinating insight into how the events unfolded on boarded the ship and answered questions from the audience. This was one of the Committee's best fund raising events yet.
